Scorpion 7.5m 2000

Scorpion 7.5m 2000 model,

Complete with outboard well rear seat and twin jockeys fitted with the new genuine Scorpion mk2 wing backs

200 optimax with 251 hours

New Henshaw tubes last year,
Complete re-trim from Sanders Sails,
New overall cover,
ICOM VHF
Northstar 8084 plotter and c-map max WIDE chart.

Choice of trailers, 12 year old roller coaster or 2 year old SBS Bunk trailer. (price dependant)

IMHO she is one of the best 7.5m MK1's out there and also one of the fastest with a 200hp at 44knots. SHe has been maintained and refurbished regardless of cost. The only thing she needs is an antifoul.

I have used TOPCAT as a family boat for several years, however recently we tried our hand at the lymington challenge, domestic rib race, and loved it. However she is too nice a boat to risk racing.

Bubble bathed and battery charged all ready to go

£18995 with choice of trailers. NOT Selling trailers alone.

Console with plotter, icom, compass, trim tab switch above throttle and a little bit of bling with anodized bezels.

Lots of interest, but most just appear to ask repetetive questions. SO FAQ below.

Is it a good boat. YES

How fast does it go. 44 knots is max recorded.

What prop is on it. Laser 2 21"

Engine hours. 251

What condition are the tubes. They are only 1 year old. They are in good condition, it has a new stripe full length £450 to repair the rubs from a poorly fitting cover.

What seats are on it and how many people does it take. Could seat 8, 4 on Jockeys. 4 on rear aft seat lounger, however she runs better with just 4 on jockeys if its rough. The seats were all new approx 12 months ago and are beautiful.

Is it safe for a family. Outboard Scorpions rock a little at rest if someone heavy jumps on one side, but she is a very safe boat. My daughter has been on it since 18months old and I had the foam in the jockey seats made progressive and with increased seat base, so I can sit her infront of me and she steers, while I throttle and hold on. She is 5 now and loves it. My mother has arthritus and preferes the comfort of the rear seat lounger thing.

Has anything gone wrong. YES an air injector failed, RIBSHOP repaired it in less than an hour. A trim tab snapped, so I fitted heavy duty racing Lenco ones. And the rear bilge used to flood (standard Scorpion thing) so I have sealed it off and increased the waterproof ness of the rear bilge wiring.

Has it been serviced. Dave crawford and RIBSHOP service her.

Is it good in the rough..... ITS a SCORPION

What shape is hull. Deep V 24degrees aft and approx 73 forward.

Whats it like in different sea's. 1-2m head swell or solent chop is a Scorpions forte... Awsome fun. Upto medium following sea's 2-3m are either taken at cruising speed approx 30knots, while watching the world go by. Or flat out for some serious fun but with a careful hand on the throttle. Beam sea's arent her favourite. I installed trim tabs to improve this. Very large head sea's can be a hard ride above 3-5m, if the boat is heavily laden aft

Does it need any work. Yes the antifoul is tatty. Its never bothered me. I intended to get it soda blasted off, but never got round to it. It needs a sand and new coat if going to live in the sea, or removing or left as is if on a trailer. (I didnt want to paint her bum and people think I was hiding a repair)

Will you take £4000 off. NO. GO Find another Scorpion outboard well under £20k. And this one has been lovingly restored with no expense spared.

Is the trailer for sale. NO

What condition is the trailer, New brakes and cables last year. It tows well but isnt the prettiest. The wheels have surface rust. Launches and recovers very easily, I always drive on and off on a very tricky slip with alot of cross wind/tide.

Have you ever been in big seas. Yes I made a stupid mistake once and got out of my depth. 5m swell at 3 second intervals(windfinder) I couldnt even get her to plane, and lost my bottle. Turned around and ran home at 30knots with the nose up.

What other rib boats have you compared her too. Ribcraft, Revenger, Cougar, Phantom, Ocean, Scorcerer, Ribeye. As a family safe boat that will make you smile from ear to ear it cant be beat.....

Why you selling it. Its a her not an it and she is for sale as I bought another Scorpion race boat project. Depsite my daughter begging me not to sell Topcat. Two boats is one too many
