Francis told me of the company closing at the RB11 meeting on Dec 5th and I have to say it's very sad indeed.

That open sport boat in the pic (I assume based on the 650) looks lovely, what a tragedy that such quality products from such an honest company can't sustain the sales required to survive commercially!

A sad sign of the times. Hopefully someone can take this line on and operate on a small enough level to make a go of it. I certainly hope so.

i do like the look of the open sport boats,as above and the ring ranger, loads of useable space, and they dont warrant sticking tubes on

Congrat's on your new boatbuilding industry, I think it's fantastic that you have purchased them and can hopefully keep the name going however sounds like a lot of hard work and hopefully some fun for you this year, out of interest what is the history of Shakespear boats they seem to have been around forever obviously started by a guy called Shakespear and then ...

Bumped into Richard Carr in Poole harbour in a 12'6'' one with a 50 strapped on it's ass end wanted to give me a burn up actually we probably shouldn't been out their we were knee hight to a grass hopper then ... a few years later another 12'6'' one turned up with a 40hp on it me and me mates ran it for a couple of seasons although their was a time the Feckin throttle jambed open and we hit the fuel barge at quite a rat of knots they weren't happy then we flogged it on to a guy who was seen jumping in it from quite a high jetty, the fat lad landed on one side and it promptly flipped up and sank ahh fun days

Thanks, something wanted to do all my life, been messing around boats, restoring boats, buying brand new bare hulls to do up,might aswell go the whole hog and do them from stratch, got two crackin laminators now on board, one ex shakespear, new building going up end of jan, going to give it my best shot, even if i break even on the venture would still be delighted, doing something previously only dreamed about, missus even supporting me and thats a real first, daughter is a tele sales terroist for Daily Mirror news group selling ad space, consistently top sales girl each month with the bonuses to prove it,shes coming on board and being shoved in reverse,it will all be at the bottom of me garden,a family affair, all keen as mustard, motivated and going for it,let you know in a years time if its working, times are still hard out there at mo.

Not at the moment in the middle of a new house build with the other half spending money like we had a forest full of money tree's.

But you never know, in a couple of years I might come knocking on yer door.

Theres still a 8.3 metre mould and a 6 metre cat mould there,i aint got space for all of them, the moulds i dun a deal on produce the 22ft sportfish pictured on this thread plus a 2 berth cuddy cabin version using the same bottom mould, will be making a new top to go on it which will give us a rib version and threemodels in the range, more than nough for me at mo.The 8.3 is running twin inboards, you would have to sell it for 40plusk to make it a viable proposition, the three we will be doing will be well under 10k,boat only on a trailer,if it takes off will see about bigger boats in a year or two.
