Speedmaster 3 Drive

Potential CTC participant needs to replace his blown Speedmaster 3 drive complete R/H and needs the other serviced. Recommendations or any ideas would be appreciated soonest?

Mike, I noticed Jim Brooker had quite a number of mk 111 spares at beaulieu. Sadly no service tools though. In respect of maintainability, I think pash has been quite wise going with konrads

OK, which bit have I misread, misrepresented, or altered at the last minute? (other than removing the bit highlighted red, as it was irrelevent)

1) Its Not a hoplessly optomistic project - Its a "Challanging" Project
2) It wont.... I'm Still under my projected budget even with the new drives..
3) I did........ - Having considered all of the advice offered - but there were extenuating circumstances......

1) I’m not Jon, But I do object to being told it's "just a load of old bits nailed together haphazardly for the purposes of unfairly winning a bet." She isn't..
2) It Isn't....
3) I haven’t – I’m still under budget.... Because I’ve been canny, Bought the Scarab for $8000 and Shipping Cost $3,500 with money I had banked in the USA @ $2=£1 so the Scarab cost me £5,750 add Vat & Import Duty @ £1,012.00 the total package set me back £6,762.00, I’ve sold the drives from her for £1000.00 = £5,762.00, the inner shields for £500.00 = 5,262.00, the Trim Tabs for £250.00 = £5,012.00, I’ve now got a yard Trailer for nothing (say nominal figure of £500.00) = £4,512.00, Sold the Hull for £1250.00 = £3,262.00 So the Engines cost me £3,262.00 for the pair New Drives are going to cost south of £14,000.00 for the pair (I have done a deal with the Manufacturer) and I’ve just had an offer of £4,000.00 each for the old No. 3 Drives from Germany so that makes the New Drives £6,000.00 Net. So cost of Boat (D2S) + Scarab + Drives (Net) + New and reconditioned parts + Labour + New Paint + New Bolster Seats = £29,612.00 Inc Contingency... against a budget of £30,000.00
4) I know that Jon, you told me, Tony told me, Mrs P told Me in fact nearly everyone on here told me - but I couldn’t stand by and see her Rot away to nothing - Its an adventure for me and the fulfilment of an ambition for John regarding his late father..

Jimmy has answered this himself.....

But her last owner spent nearly £40K on purchasing her and getting her to a recon Hull... add that to my budget of £30K and that getting close to £70K for the package....

Unless the participant is running sabres, they're not right, otherwise you'd be running them!

I’ve just had an offer of £4,000.00 each for the old No. 3 Drives from Germany

The Bit in red Jon it was an "offer" turns out the chap was a bit of a wheel kicker and so far has not made 2 appointments to come over and collect them. So I havent turned down £4,000 each - he just has not paid for them or collected them....

So If Mike is interested (at a reduced price for a member of the4 "Circle")then a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush..

things change and plans evolve as you well know Jon

"Less is more.

To fit 'D' class, it needs to be <8.5 litre, and not have headers (and be fundimentally a standard production unit), so 500hp is about the sensible limit.

Won't be the fastest boat on the block, but top speed aint everything.

Restoration, no, refurb, sort of. Just budget racing really." Warlord thread

Actually Matt I was put off them even more by what Jimmy Brooker was saying about rebuilds - may well have run them this year but could not afford to keep sending them back the the States as I was told the tools were not available over here.

If mike has found the tools he's half way there..

Jon,
Is this the full half hour argument or just a recession busting 15 minute version?
