V8 OMC

I raced a Cougar 27 cat "Carlsberg" in about 1989-90 with Graham Peck and Andrew Chambers from Guernsey. Had a pair of the buggers on the back. When it went it was awesome, they sounded like a pair of Merlins from a Spitfire. When it went was actually only once ! We never finished a race but we did get into Weymouth Bay very quickly in the Cowes Torquay. One motor stopped and I went aft to have a look. We used to ratchet strap the cowls on as we had lost two. I looked at the port motor and the cowl was "bulging". Took of the strap lifted off the cowl and the starter motor dropped into the sea! Went back into the cockpit, plugged in the intercom, said to Pecky, "Don't worry its and electrical problem with the starter" He said" What's wrong with it then" "Well" I said, "the number one piston has come out through the block, scythed off the top of the motor and knocked off the starter" I now use it as a coffee table. Best thing for them if you ask me- far better than an anchor !

I dont think so, the water jacket was seriously leaking!! which must have saved the RNLI another job! Do you remember how wide it was!!!!! About 8 feet or so!! I remember it passed scrutineering though!!

CIAO, where do you dig that junk up from, you must have tons of the stuff. Do you recall that we made an Arneson drive from scrap to wind up all of the other 2 litre drivers !
What a dog of a boat- mind you I think I only paid £300 for it from either Bill Matcham or Terry Hedges !
