Have to admit, it sounded very different to the other V24s as you idled out of the pits.

No one is quite sure.

Aparently a safety boat saw me racing up on the starb'd side of V16, nicking V16 and they spun out. This is the statement they made at the appeal. Based on this the OOD gave the yellow card.

Now according to the markboat, myself, V16 and James Sydnham ( in a spectator boat at that turn point ) I was on the port of V16, and V16 slowed to retire ( the speed at which he slowed is debated! ) V16 turned into ( starboard ) the course to retire, as I made my turn to starboard at that mark.

Was very very close to a collision! and I zigged to avoid V16 and then faced the turn bouy, so zagged to avoid that.

Successfully.

So there was no collision. And V16 was on my starboard, and he was basically stopped at that point, and he did not 'spin out'.

The card was upheld because I was following a racing line too close to the boat in front to avoid a collision should the boat in front slow.

That there was no collision seems to have escaped the committee.

And we are not talking about a Ricky Hill no collision here ( where you come back with half your boat plastered over the other boat, and the other boat is sinking from a huge hole in the side! ) We are talking about a no-collision where there is about a meter of air between the boats!
