Has any one a complete Sea Star or equivalent steering set up for sale, or know best prices for our P21 project.

I know it is not complete but i have a Warlock power marine cilinder for sale , it is complete with wingplate that fits a 2,5L efi and includes the hose's , so you only need a seastar-pro hydrolic pump .
Maby i can make a nice deal for you as a combo with the 2,5L you pm'ed me about .

Thanks guys for your response, first class as ever,we were watching the ebay steering, and to be honest was busy on Sunday and forgot all about it!! I have replied to a couple of you direct and am considering the total package offer from Phantastic. Decisions decisions, anyway got the motorhome sorted out and the Dodge Day van sold, so a good weekend, now to get on with the boat. Once again thanks for all the offers!

Hi all

I'm looking for a helm pump to run the cylinder in the picture.
The current pump I'm running is giving me 8 turns lock to lock and I'm fed up with it.

Or of course a cylinder to run with the pump.
Created the system myself from odd bits so shouldn't have been surprised it wasn't ideal. Did cost me under £100 in total though!

Is there no pressure adjustment on the helm pump to allow it to pump more fluid thus making it less turns lock to lock??

I can't touch it until after work anyway, but may well have a fiddle even if nobody else has replied.

I'd presumed they were just blanking plugs, but its got to be worth a try, haven't anything to lose really, but I'll mark their positions before I move them just in case.

I'll feel a bit daft if it turns out that simple.

You could try 'Adam' at K4+ i know we gave him our Seastar steering ram, but whether he has any in stock i dont know, but he does supply them..

Could be allen socket. Looks like a rotation sing, to the left of it.

Hi

The Allen head is a blanking plug for the additional hose thats used in a twin helm set up to make sure both helms are bled properly. The sign beside it is an arrow and a 'T'.

Tried mucking about with the other two screws. They go in about 1 and 1/2 turns before bottoming out, or out about 3 turns before coming out completly and leaking fluid. But appear to make no differance to how the steering works. I'm presuming they are pressure relief valves or something similar.

Actually ran it lock to lock again and its 10 turns, no wonder my hands have to move fast.

Anybody have a used spare helm pump laying about I could try on a sale or return basis?

I don't think a Seastar ram will help as your ram looks similar in capacity to the Seastar unit!!! I also very much doubt your helm has adjustable displacement. The Capilano helms (like Burty's got) have it but I think they're more the exception rather than the rule.

it's quite affordable as well. don't know what you are paying in the shop for a seastar pro but in the NL it is significantly cheaper.. Ph@ntastic also has one on his phantom (earlier model but similar).

If the valve bock on the back of the unit is ali (which I suspect as it's painted in the pics) keep an eye on it and keep it well protected/preserved one I had like it went rotten in 4 seasons and was scrap. shame coz it could have been prevented if I'd guessed at the time

By the way apologies to Bazza for hijacking his thread.

I have now tested my helm unit by cracking open the bleed valve on the Cylinder and attaching a short length of tube with a large syringe on the end.

I'm only getting about 6 or 7ml of fluid per rev of the wheel, so its probably knackered. from a quick search most pumps start at 20cc per rev and go upwards from there.
