The problem at the mo is that Merc aren't building any xs's so if there are none available they may well allow the XR2's to continue.

True, Merc did say if there was a big enough order i.e. 25 units or so they will build them for the teams. Least that’s what was said in the UIM meeting by the UIM at the worlds 08. But its just finding 25 people who want a new xs's and can afford it lol! but i think they were also going to look in to Evenrude's power heads with the Merc saddle, running gear and using a modified sandwich plate! can anyone else shed an light on it??

it appears not as Roy had been trying to source one at the beginning of the year with no luck. He also looked into weather XS powerheads were available to use on his existing leg with an adapter plate again with no luck. At that stage we were being told that merc had no scheduled production date hence I had to put the old XR2 together again for Guernsey.

Howard Wreatham was taking orders earlier in the year - I guess they cancelled the run then ..............

xs
I think Roy is asking the wrong people , I've had 3 xs 200. Also you can fit a xs powerhead to a xr2 leg as long as you change the sandwhich plate and if it has a sportsmaster gearbox it will conform to the rules
