Yamaha 140hp, 40hrs from new
I have a Yamaha 140hp powerhead and everything to build up into a complete engine.
I bought the powerhead as a NOS long block direct from Yamaha in 2004, it is a genuine early 140hp premix block and heads and exhaust plates which are different and better porting from the later 130B block/heads.
I ran it in for 10hrs by the book and then only used it for one summer before I bought a v6 Yamaha powerhead. It was run on Amsoil 33:1, used for pleasure use only (mainly skiing) and never taken above 5500rpm. It currently has just over 40hrs on the block mounted hour meter I fitted when new. It has never been fiddled with or tuned in any way.
I removed the powerhead and gearbox complete from the leg after 12 months, filled it with oil and has been stored in my workshop ever since. I have since bought another leg / gearbox / 140hp cowling etc, everything is here to build it up again but I don't have the space or time or even a boat for it anymore. There is:
- 140 powerhead complete with carbs / electrics / wiring
- early 140 three latch cowling and tray
- 130/140 exhaust tuner and sandwich plate.
- complete 20" leg with good trim and tilt
- 20" gearbox purchased brand new in 2004 which has done the same hours as the powerhead.
- assorted control boxes / dials / spare trim motor and other parts.
I don't really know if these are still raced and what price to put on it, the leg and cowling are not really worth a whole lot but the powerhead is relatively rare and as new, along with the gearbox. I'll hazard a guess at £1950.
