Yep
220 was an older engine finished about 88, we've got a powerhead in the workshop and yes good units but few issues with boxes although i've never had any issues.
Ours is L 300920 so yours will be an old one as well,

The L you are looking at refers to the length of the shaft.
The year letter is stamped in the lower part of the ID plate, usually on the black printing bit. Its not at all related to the serial number and it`s kind of hidden and not noticable unless you really look for it. the 220 special was around 86-87 from memory.
I have spare analogue and digital gen Yamaha instruments give me a pm. Do you need the whole trim setup or just a single trim ram (the two trim rams often crack / chip at the top)

serial numbers
,
Year code is STAMPED in the bottom right hand corner of ident plate.
( normally ) not pictured in photo earlier in thread.Yamaha started at
Z and worked backwards, sorry cant remember codes, i think 79 was a T.
They didn't use all years. Ran 2 x 220,s on LPW in late 80's, then 3 x 225's on j&B. Very reliable, computers didn't like vibrations though from solid hubs etc.
