Boat Trailer P20

Would this be any good for my p20? Is ALUMINIUM good or bad news?

I saw that, looks blinding........just needs some brakes on at least one axle.

Captain Chaos 18-11-2004 04:09 PM

what ali?

Silversurfer 18-11-2004 04:12 PM

Is that for real or a piss take?
Is there a physicist on board?

Captain Chaos 18-11-2004 04:23 PM

Being serious, I know that brine is particularly abbrasive. And I also know that the the blackwater & crouch are bleeding salty...

but i thought the whole point of ali was non-rust?

I have to admit to not attending any materials lectures........They were during Home & Away!!

Dan 18-11-2004 04:34 PM

Just to add a little bit of use less info, certain grades of ali are ok but they have to be either 6082 or 5083. Not the stuff you can buy in B&Q!!!!:D :D

Carl 18-11-2004 04:35 PM

capt i think you are getting confused with your stomach again, its the hot dogs that are in brine:drain:

Captain Chaos 18-11-2004 05:17 PM

Dont do hot-dogs!

Silversurfer 18-11-2004 05:36 PM

Point taken - thought it was cheap!

Jon Fuller 18-11-2004 05:45 PM

There are plenty of ali boats about, as long as it's the right stuff it's fine.

Captain Chaos 18-11-2004 05:50 PM

Knew i wasnee being stupid!

JamesM 18-11-2004 08:08 PM

Your outboard is made form ali as are most jackplates and cheapo props, salt will eat it eventually though. Ali suffers from fatigue badly too next to steel.

Taz 18-11-2004 08:38 PM

Ive got a yank trailer its the tits but really heavy and wide. Its got a system you connect your hose to that blows the salt out of the bearings. I took all the brakess off well i cut the pipes as there illegal and they never worked right but other then that its like new

:brown:

Taz 18-11-2004 09:16 PM

Silver buy that trailer if you dont mind the journey those rollers will make getting your boat on a doddle! I norm drive my boat on till last weekend tide was going out stong i was on me own and drove her into one of the runners which cum off! i shouted so loud most of the anchor come out. im going to have get some poles on the rear to hold the boat in posiktion whilst i drive her on!
