I would have thought 'technically', they're there...

I would have thought 'technically', they're there for for lashing the boat to the trailer, and their purpose as ski eyes was secondary.
After all, a Cougar US1-46 has them, and I can't imagine...

If you put a loop of rope from one 'U' bolt, to...

If you put a loop of rope from one 'U' bolt, to the other, on which you put a pulley with a float (to stop it sinking and getting caught in the prop) and attach the ski line to the pulley, it works...
