It will look better, in the short term, just won't last.
Get rid of the top couple of thou of oxidized gell, get it shiney & waxed and it'll look good for ages, and be easy to clean.

Your boat needs more than just compound.

Those deeply faded areas need blocking back with 1200, then 1500 wet n dry, then mopping, then Simonizing, but you already know that, coz we spoke about it...
