My batteries are regular 655 truck batteries, and although I've broken a good few plates (internal), I've never broken a case, or had a spillage, but I think this is purely coz they are held exremely...

Well as it's done three seasons and still looks new the answer is "at least three years" but then it is alachromed and powder coated, and most importantly, I don't have battery acid 'splashing...
