I had a brand new one, hit something first time out with it, wrecked the gearbox too.

6500 isn't too high for a promax. I ran mine at 7k on my cat for years with no issues at all. Best merc I've ever had.

That prop looks very similar to a yam or ET, looks like a good prop to start...
