If so, I guess you need to laminate 3 or 4 layers of mat about a foot square over the back of the hole & when it's cured sand out the...

It looks like a glancing blow in your picture. You can see a gouge mark heading rearwards (I'm assuming that it's the STBD side) parallel to the stripes on the hull.

Maybe caught it on a gatepost...
