The smallest class was 'A' class before it was Formula 4. 'A' class was a 14 footer with about a 50 Merc whereas Formula 4 generally became a 16 footer with an 85 Yam.

I searched the rules for a minimum length in Formula 1 but funnily enough couldn't find one. People seem more interested in the maximum length in that class!

It is the 2.0l F1 350hp...

A quick outline of the British boat classes:

Formula 1
Boat length: up to 6.5m.
Engines: inboard or outboard upto a maximum of 575ci. Turbo chargers, super chargers and avgas allowed.
