Depends how you drive but outboard would use at least twice as much as an inboard. If you worry about fuel consumption you'd never launch your boat :D

Outboards use more fuel than inboards but...

Outboards use more fuel than inboards but inboards are heavy and are a pain to launch and recover single handed,also inboards take up extra room in cockpit.
