sure they give much better throttle response but...

sure they give much better throttle response but not a great deal more power unless other things are done to the engine too

not sure whats been done to my engine, had a quick look looks like some light portwork on rod slots and i've fitted a 1" intake...

No. its fine at all speeds.
check to see if you have any play in your midsection or maybe air in your steering

you could try replacing the pipe first because it might have a blockage in it....
