Bravo One XR gear lube leak

surely the path of least resistance in a running scenario where the pressure increases would be the header tank for expansion - but there is no evidence of oil leaking at that end - looking through the Mercruiser Bravo Service Manual (it's a big old manual!) the only valve I can see is the...

Bravo One XR gear lube leak

I have found this which might help: https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/drives-lower-units/283503-bravo-1-temps.html for that I am guessing 71-110 degrees C should cover it.

Bravo One XR gear lube leak

What temperature range is normal on the top of the casing? Thinking further I guess this over heating could point to 3 areas: - Exhaust gas higher for some reason on this engine than the others (CMD 4.2 Turbo diesels - through drive exhaust) - worn gears or bearings somewhere in the drive...

Bravo One XR gear lube leak

Ahh that is a good thought over heating and blowing oil under load thanks very much, will do this. Yes we do have drive showers. I assume just put the temp gauges right on the top, although as long as they are all in the same place on each drive it should give a good indication of the difference.

Bravo One XR gear lube leak

Problem is we don't have a way to test whilst it is under load, which might reveal the problem...

Bravo One XR gear lube leak

So we have a triple install and one of the drives is leaking gear lube. It only leaks noticeably if the boat is run under heavy load, 75% plus throttle. All propshaft seals have been replaced and also tubes etc that pass / connect through the transom and there is no gear lube ever in the engine...

CMD SmartCraft Gauges to show decimal engine hours

Hi all, Does anyone know if engine hours display on smartcraft gauges can be configured to show more detail than just whole hours. The manual doesn't mention it but does actually show and example screen with Volts on the left and hours on the right - with a decimal ie 22.3 - our displays...

    Cmd qsd 4.2 350 hp

Thanks for the reply Miss Daisey, are these guys the original CMD people from Swanick - or a different outfit? After doing even more digging I have discovered that these engines still appear to be made which is a good sign! Anyone know if these engines allow for instantaneous fuel usage...

    Cmd qsd 4.2 350 hp

Hi all I have been searching far and wide for any useful information on the above engines (2009) models which I believe are based on Italian VM diesels. I am considering a second hand boat which has them fitted. What I would like to know is: - What are they like compared to the relative...

Hi does anyone know the C of G of the Hunton 43 in relation to the stern for fork lift purposes, I am trying to compare to a Superhawk 40. (obviously depending on engine options it may vary a little). cheers G.

Superhawk 40 with Buzzi Trimax and Yanmars

Hmm in the mean time I found this which does show a SH40 with trimax drives on a fork lift but I have no idea where or what the fork lift is and if it would be able to lift and lower to extremes etc. http://static.boatquest.com/listings/4/1/8/41826_761595.jpg

Superhawk 40 with Buzzi Trimax and Yanmars

Do you have any particular names - all the people we used to deal with (have had 3 new boats over the years) at the factory have left. One of the SS brokers have been trying to get this info for us but unsuccessfully so far. cheers G.

Superhawk 40 with Buzzi Trimax and Yanmars

Hi all first post here although I have been lurking for a while since looking at Huntons (very intrigued by Peter Unwin's Cheetahs!) However have decided that a 37 is too small for our needs. We are trying to sell a 2002 Camargue 44 - we just don't need the accommodation it offers any more. We...
