Morning All,

This is my first post so please be nice.

I purchased a Zapcat fairly recent, its my first 2 stroke, outboard and racing RIB so I'm bit of a numpty, hence I'm after a little advice on a couple of points:

- What is the best oil brand, type, etc I should purchase? I've seen a few threads on this subject but wanted to check if I should be looking for something specific for a Cat?

- After 2/3 days use the engine keeps misfiring, I replace the plugs and its all ok again. The plugs themeselves don't seem in bad condition but it does solve the problem again for a few days. I'm sure the mixture is correct. Why am I killing plugs so quickly or could there be another issue I'm missing? btw - it has been serviced recently but still the same issue.

Any advice from the boating gods will be much appreciated :worthy:

I use Yamaha 2 stroke oil, but quicksilver is good too and I've heard good things about RockOil who sponsor some zapcats

We've been selling the Merc 2-stroke race oil to people racing Thundercats for ages. Only had good feedback. We always keep plenty in stock

Many thanks.

Do you have problems with the engine misfiring after a few uses or having to replace plugs on a regular basis?

I was having those problems when I ran it at 32:1 oil mixture, which was recommended by someone in the US for the 70ces. Since then I've gone to 40:1 which works fine and doesn't foul any more. 32:1 is probably fine for racing use but if you're using the engine for general use with some time spent at low speed and idle it just fouls the plugs
