he has not got it ironed out yet, but it did run 77 mph without the secondaries openning.

I would think ratios and props are the big problem

You can run to E4 props as standard, and then they can be worked. This will help solve the gearing issues.


Running E4's I can't get past 4000 RPM. I tried several iterations but the current engine cant push those props. I figure with another 230Hp and the rev limiter moved to 6000RPM I can get the ton, but I seem to have a problem getting an engine to run over 500Hp without popping..

what you need is to purchase that one off 32 stretched from a 28 built for the now defunct pro vee series, it appeared in the very last race with a 950hp supercharged engine but did not finish would assume it's weighted to 2850kg as I think that was the pro vee rules...that should be good for maybe 110-115mph a great boat for a basic race

It's actually an earlier generation hull design that is inferior to the later step design used on the V24 & B23 hulls.
What tricky really needs to do is get the 33? that was designed but never built off the drawing board.

I dont rate the 28 hull as much as the 24 hull - neither does Occe! A stretch job also affects the balance of the boat, especially with steps.

It is a delicate thing that hull design malarky.


For a proper 30 foot 'V24' you need to design it as a 30 footer.

I did look at the 32 footer, and have posted piccies previously. It was a 'one behind' seating arrangement, and apsolutely killed similarly powered similarly sized boats, the canopy construction made it illegal to race.


But it was a compromise on the B28 hull, and the B28 was not the best point to start off with anyway IMO.


What is needed is a 30 footer, with a steaper V, and a flatter rear step with a nice pad for speed. Also the wings need to be thinner and designed for lift, and the boat hull must be designed for a big block from the start, with a nice air scoop atop the canopy, and waterproof sides.....

Sure was a pity it never ran properly in that last ever pro vee race it would have been interesting to see how it would have performed against the Buzzi diesel boats of 1050hp that were running over 110mph in the time trial

It is for sale again. It now has a completely refreshed 377 Scorpion with zero hrs. New Paint, Yellow and Silver. New Seats.

The motor just came off the dyno and had 405hp and 430 torque. Pretty solid for a 377.

We race against the other V-24s with the Duo Prop and I have raced them myself. The two set ups are entirely different. The Merc with Bravo is faster but is not for the novice. We switch rotation for different courses. We race shorter courses in the US and either turn all to left or all to the right so we set up for that. One of the other guys just dropped a 450hp small block in his with a Duo Prop this week. Looking forward to seeing it run.

When you say "not for the novice", what do you mean? If a guy were to buy one for pleasure, would it be a problem to leave the rotation alone?

No it is not a problem for the average guy to run the Ockie with the Bravo. If you are racing it and want to maximize it's potential you would want to switch rotation based on the turns. Properly set up it will vastly outperform the Volvo.

For pleasure boating and poker runs you wouldn't need to do thing, just enjoy.
