We maybe looking to use the lochernhead as a week away, therefore can anyone recommend a campsite north of the midlands (from Plymouth) that we could stay, probably for a couple of days?

Last year, you could stay right on the side of the loch with electric hook up and the use of the clubs showers & facilities. All the boats were kept together in the compound and could be launched whenever you wanted. If the forecast looks good then you might be better off staying there and having a play on the loch. Plus that time of year it'll stay light til about 11:00pm to go on the ringo's.

Thanks Gary, we are starting our trek on the Wednesday so all depends how well the long drive from Plymouth goes. Treating it as a mini break so wife and dog are being dragged along too

Last year we towed the boat up with the car from mid Sussex in about seven hours. Loads of road works and torential rain around Birmingham. This year we plan to take the camper and stop over here on the way up:
