for all you serious lot that was a joke, is it new , bound to be isnt it at 2500 ,

40 hours since rebuild it will be early 90s spent its life on a fishing boat in florida. Dont underestimate the size and power of one of these beasts!

Yeh, and don't underestimate the task involved to get spares for it when it breaks, and believe me it will. Almost all part are now no longer available, and because of the small number that were produced there ain't much after market stuff available either.

The motor was a real embaressment to mercury, doesn't make the stated hp, and in most cases is no quicker than a 200hp on a similar boat.

There was talk on the forum of one for sale in Poole a couple of months ago, a 275hp with an almost complete motor for spares for less than a £1,000.

Hey, tell it like it is.

It's a cool looking motor, but it ain't no sportster. More suited to fishing boats, ribs etc, not a performance craft like a phantom, probably get a p22 onto the plane though!!!!!:D

He's talking about a pig ugly pile of shite called a Pacific 22 (rib) they usually have a have a floor made of mouldy cardboard and an 11-1/2 hp rotovator engine! ...but you can hold them 'flat out' in a 2' head sea!

Dont matter what you say i think there the tits and i havent had no problems with mine on my boat so there, And i know where i can get the spares from!. Oh buy the way i bought that one in poole to. My phantom has never been so fast and ive had an xr2 on it.

**** me...............here we go again.....

Matt...........It dont matter what the clocks say........just how long the skid is in ya skants!

My gps shows around 75mph with a 25 pich prop at around 5000rpm i need to set the boat up properly buy shifting some weight to the front as it cavitates badly over 70mph so im to scared to trim up to much, so im not sure what max speed is

This is probably a really stupid question but I am an Essex girl so I'm allowed to be dumb! :D How will shifting weight to the front prevent cavitation? Surely more nose weight will pull the stern out of the water more? Please can someone explain! (See - I told you it was a dumb question! But if you don't ask you don't learn.)

Ta Matt. I was wondering whether Taz meant chine-walking but didn't like to say as I'm not one of the experts like you! :worthy:
