Dunno if any of you play with H.V. (no not H I V ).
Normally(in the UK) you would use an expensive piece of switch gear to get the supply off-loaded from a cable before you use a simple isolator like the one in the clip to ensure the juice cant jump back down it for any reason while youre working on it.
Perhaps this was their expensive switch gear!
I think they were left with no option but to use this safety interuptor as the switch, thats why they knew to video it, those guys knew what would happen.
Interesting to see that once the arc opens and the gas gets ionised, the spark will jump any distance and even rises up in the air with the heat.
