Dude it doesn't bolt to the boat it bolts through the tilt tube on the motor, same as cable steering

the elastic does help alot.

well it stoped our engine fallin off again!

If you have a Merc offshore saddle (single vertical ram, as fitted to XR2, 2.5 EFI offshore etc), you don't need to bother.

The bungees are to stop the motor kicking up on re-entry if you have a 'girls saddle' with twin horizontal trim rams, and a vertical tilt ram. (domestic/pleasure motors), with these, the motor is draged away from the trim rams on re-entry, then when you stick your foot back down, the slack is taken up like a slide hammer! Very nasty!

Well I've managed to break the tilt tube on 3 saddles now so I have a bungee system on my offshore saddle!

Nasty. Shouldn't you skilled hardboaters have the power on at re-entry?

Us ribbers do.

Bustin kit aint a prestigeous qualification, it just means you're regularly a 'DNF-er'

Idealy, yes, but as you can see from the above posts, not everyone has the skill.

Thanks for that Jon - either the bungies are doing thier job or I'm getting better 'cos I havn't broken anything for a while! (It's hard to type with your fingers crossed!)

:D :D :D

Glad to see your sense of humour is still intact, thought that might have been a little stiff.
