I've got my eyes on this boat.

It's a(Industrie Di Gravedona) Cima Timossi built Misty 26'ft with dual Volvo P AQ171C (167hp) engines and 290 drives. Only got 115 hours on it, boat is hardly used, but has been neglected for years. Reg papers says it's built in 1983, in Italy. Got a shower (fresh water tank up front) and el. anchor.

Owner don't even know how much he wants for it, so suggestions on price are welcome.

What do you guys think? I do some restoration work on cars and motorbikes, so I'm not scared of a challenge, but I'd like to get some oppinions on the hullshape, engines and drives (reability, pro's and con's) etc..

Cheers
Chris

Looks like it could be quite a capable rough water boat.

Those 171's are prone to corroding the pulleys of their twin overhead camshaft setup, it happens when the water circulating pump gives up, and the leaking coolant gets everywhere, then the rusted pulleys shread the timing belt and bang goes ya 16 valve ally head, so I'd take a good look at those parts before you run it if you do buy it.

Thanks for the quick response there JF.

I'll take the engines out and have a really good look at them, change oil and water pumps, timing belts, clean up the carbs and oil and coolant change, etc..

Blocks are the same as the B25 Volvo car engines, how tunable are they?

Dunno, I would think they're already pretty well tuned, the 151(150hp) is the same motor with an 8 valve (2 per cyl instead of 4) single overhead cam head. remember you need a fairly flat torque curve for a boat.

Looks quite interesting that chris.

Value? About £4000.00 sterling as is. Plan on spending 200 times that again on repairs and maintenance over the next few years!

But hell, if it puts a smile on your face its money well spent in my view. Restored well it could make a very pretty boat.

I figured between 4 and 5 K for it, do the interior up (new seats etc) with a bit of Teak , do a retro sportster look, and start looking for a surface drive (PSI pulse drive or Arneson) to replace the doglegs when they bust. ( and toss out the petrols for a diesel engine)

Claimed speed is 50mph (gauged, not GPS), with stock props, anyone know where to find some SS props for these legs?

I really like this boat, and are willing to put down some cash and time in restoring it into a beauty if the price is right. But on the other hand, there is a Phantom 25 down the street from me without running gear.....

Show us some pics of the Phantom.

Have to wait(3weeks) with piccys, I'm offshore(work) in Brazil and wont be back home until the end of this month.

£800000.00
