Hi guys,

I am new to the world of boating and have just purchased a Broom speed boat with a mercury 50hp outboard.
It is manual start 4 cylinder.

My question is:
What is a bilge pump and will I need one?

I will be using boat along the river and maybe at a later date on a lake for water ski-ing etc..

Thanks,
Jamie:hugegrin:

Its a water pump that sits in the arse end of your boat and pumps out any water you may have taken onboard. Usefull thing to have should ever get a good splash of water dive into your boat!

Thank you very much, I literally know nothing!

I didnt know anything either when I 1st started boating. But you learn pretty fast and most of the guys on here really know there ****. Where do you use your boat JayJay?

dude if its a pull start then i wouldnt worry about a bilge pump cus you wont have anything to power it. just run with what you have and enjoy yourself.;)

Thanks chaps. I will be running the boat along the thames in the walton on thames / shepperton area.

Watch ya speed, d'brogh cut is oK for a blast out of hours when nobodys about but it's at your on risk.
Depending how & where you keep it you may need to register with the thames conservancey.
