put the p 21 tandem in the water today for the first time ! goes well! but when get to about 55 60 it leans to the left big time and stays there! My engines offset 1.5 inches to the right and the battery and trim pump are also on the right. Has anyone encountered this before? Its strange because i thought being a tandem it wouldnt lean like this and if anyhting it would lean to the right with the weight? HELP its really annoying!

I reckon you have too much offset and/or engine isn't fitted exactly vertical.?

You reckon trimming it out will sort it out jon? i did trim it out didnt seem to make any difference??

I'm sure it will, if you have it trimmed with negative trim, when you turn up the wick (open the throttle) it'll lay over on the port side like a bastud, you wanna be running with neutral, or positive trim to keep it level 'in roll'.

it will also (as will all boats) lean heavily into the wind, ie, if there's a fair breeze blowing from your left hand side, the boat will lean to port, and visa-versa.

I had a Ring 20 that did exactly the same thing when trimmed in.

Was fine when trimmed out.

yup, do it in a Ring, and you're asking for a nice 180 hook! :speechles

Never had the pleasure of that experience but then again I only used the boat twice; the wife HATED it.

my ring does the same in the wind but i get it back level with the trim tabs.

My propshaft is about 1.5 to 2 inches below the bottom of the boat! Wot john said is prob rite about trimming it out coz i couldnt trim it to much because me bow tank aint working yet and the bow was trying to flap abit!

thats ok then. i was wondering because i believe having the prop too low in the water would give the same effect

do you think thats about the rite height with 6inche set back or do you think i could go higher? the engines not over revving? it going to about 6200rpm?oh its an xr2?

if you have a bullet box then theres no reason why you couldnt raise the motor however that may effect the holeshot and handling. i'd try it again at same height but trim out more before raising engine.

Yeah ive got a bullet box! Hole shot????? When i said i couldnt trim it i meant only in those conditions! I had it trimmed out along way when we went up river for a while and it only went to 6200 then!

hole shot as in out of the hole. its when you are sat idleing and then floor it. the higher the engine the more prop slip you get. and the longer it takes to get out of the hole

Oh got ya!! well i havent got any slip at the mo! I thought that xr2's liked abit of slip anyway?? ive got a manual jack plate so raising wouldnt be a prob anyway!

Jon, what was it you said about setback??? something about for every 4" you go back you need to go up an 1" or sommat:confused:

Yeah i used to run my old xr2 at 6500 constant! Cheers rob i'll try bringing it up 1/2 inch and see wot happens! the handling felt good (apart from the leaning) where it was so so i think i could go abit higher!
