Rob, how big is the boat? I imported my boat from the US (18'), there are a few ways to do it and if I were to do it again I wouldn't do it the way I did, live and learn!
A mate of mine who's a Master of a roro is setting up a boat import/ecport company in Florida. I'll galdly pass you his number to see if he can help you
There is a "Big" difference between "East & West" coasts
if you want to buy / transport it to the "East" (cheaper) i can give you the number of a friend that imports "Huge" campers / mobile homes (about 5 a week)
He has offered a great deal ...... "just looking for the right boat"
All you have to pay for is the additional length as it will come in attatched to the back of a motorhome, Hence no additional charges for loading / unloading .... all it requires is a road legal trailer that will make it from southhampton to chertsey ( surrey ) ...... you collect from there
Hi, I'm new round here but I can maybe add to this debate. There is an Irish guy in Florida who ships nearly-new boats with CE CERTIFICATION already done. I've checked out references with several customers and they all recommend him. He uses this URL to sell the boats: http://www.apolloduck.com/dealer.phtml?bid=73
Watch out for american trailers, illegal over here apparently.
You also have to pay 1.7% import duty, + VAT @ 17.5%.
But my god, you can get 23' Cruisers for the price of a 17' runabout over here. Awesome.
