Still on as far as I know - although information has been very sparse.
Don't think the entry will be very good - looking at one or two boats from South Africa, two Scandinavians, not sure how many Brits (3 or 4 ?) and do not know about the Italians or other countries.

All the Brit boats have deceided not to go because of the cost, well at least that was the last thing that was said!!! It was $6000+ just to get the boat down there. The only good thing that might come out of the situation is that the UK was next in line to host.

If anybody knows any different let me know cuz we will have to get our sh*t together if the fleet is going!!!
Would be great for me if the Worlds did come back here - or anywhere in Europe for that matter as with the changes I'm making (mainly engine and the shorter shaft) I cannot possibly make a February race.

I'd imagine the only way your boat is getting in a 40' container is in bits anyway!

As far as I know, Cape Town is still on, but I think Tony Fraque(?) of the SA federation has said he needs 10 boats in each class for the event to take place. (At least this is what he said in Portugal)

As far as I know there are no boats from the UK attending. The cost of getting them down there is prohibitive $6000 + just to get the boat down. Much too much. You can run the season for that!!
Will know more after the 2ltr meeting on Saturday, but dont hold out much hope for the event.

I spoke to Scott yesterday and his 1.3 is up for sale on ebay and he's definitly not going.

Re: Cancellation of Worlds Offshore Powerboat Championships Class 1.3/2litre Cape Town South Africa 7th-13th February 2005.
It is with deepest regret that due to lack of International participation we owe it to our sponsors, our country and that of the U.I.M to give notice that the 2005 World Offshore Championships for 3B/3C has been cancelled.
This decision has not been taken lightly as all the sponsorships were in line, however we are led to believe that no overseas competitors were prepared to come to our country and accordingly had no alternative.
Further it gives an opportunity for the nominated countries who were prepared to run the events should ours have been cancelled to organize the 2005 World championships for 3B/3C in good time.
In conclusion I am personally disappointed as a great deal of work over the past 12 months had been undertaken to make the 2005 World Championship one to remember.
We remain yours in sport.

Marcus, could you let me know how the Finish contingent would feel about racing in the UK if there was a decent package? I there are any members from the other European countries on this forum do likewise.Cheers
