Hi everyone!

I’m really fascinated by Chaudron boats – I think they look absolutely awesome. I was wondering if anyone here owns one or has experience with them?

If so, I’d love to hear what engine you're running and what kind of top speed you're getting. Always fun to learn more about how these boats perform in the real world.

Thanks in advance – looking forward to hearing from you!

Both the 25 and the 27 are highly sort after boats and Chaudron have a long waiting list for both models. Interestingly I read a report on Wave to Wave who tested the pro25 - a dead copy of the Phantom 25 - and when fitted with a single Merc 300R was hitting speeds of 80/83mph, straight out of the box, in waters that were certainly not smooth. Very impressive indeed.

Yeah, the boat runs really well, especially in rough water. But the Chaudron PROS 25 is not just a dead copy of the Phantom 25. It has two steps in the hull, which gives better lift, handling and overall performance. That makes it a more advanced design in my opinion.

And so it should. Phantom 25's haven't been made for about 30yrs!! Haven't said that, a friend here on Boatmad, living in Norway, has an old unstepped Phantom 25 which he has fitted a Merc 450R to and is regularly hitting 90mph plus. 93mph in fact from memory and says it's as steady as a rock at that speed! There is a vid to that effect somewhere. That, IMHO, says a considerable amount about the original designer Steve Baker and why Chaudron copied it.

I’ve studied Phantom boats for a few years, and their dominance is undeniable. Chaudron basically copied the best to create a hull that actually performs and builds a reputation.

They have made some improvements. I could definitely see myself owning one in the future as long as they don’t become too expensive.
