Before any ginger boys start PMing me abuse and start telling me to "focus"....this is meerly my inquisitive imind @ work....again!

Just wondered about this type of outboard?

I would have thought the TRP would add to grip and allow the motor to be mounted dead-centre and also remove any torque feedback through steering?

Is there any more obvious advantages compared with a normal o/board of similar hp?.......would one see gains/ losses in top end?

One of Mr Pascoes SR8's had a 150 Vmax (that motor) it wasn't particularly fast, I spose there may have been less torque reaction, but nowt amazing.

Vmax 150 efi

Doing a little research myself, I notice that Yamaha see to have produced a 150hp version for donkeys, but never any bigger.

I'd assume, that as its the same (long running") 2.6L as the 175/200/225, a 150 would be easily be tunable to increased HP.

Was just wondering whether its also most likely that its been kept to this HP due to the fidley lower unit and @ 225hp a big yam would quickly make mincmeat of it??

Outboard motor offset?

I'm sure this must have been discussed a million times, but I've searched the forum & can't find anything:

Should the motor be dead centre on the transom, or offset to one side? If so, how much?

No need to answer the question again; just point me to the relevent thread.

(FYI: My motor is 1-1/2" offset with anti-vent //el to pad. I have no intention of changing it's position; just curious what people think)

PS: Jon, did you switch HTML code off? Can't find anything in my account to enable it, but I'm sure I used it before.

Of course; what I actually meant to put was 20mm. :*******:

Next time I'll check first rather than rely on my obviously flawed memory/knowledge of boats.
