Cowes 2012 Update

Looks good! She seems to ride nice & level, or is that just this shot?

It is pretty good. The staggered motor layout, huge bow tank, and substantial trim tabs mean you can get it to run pretty much how you want in most conditions. Big following seas are the only time it's a challenge, but even then, no more than most other designs as the recovery in the bows is quite strong.

CTC - photos / vids - Pippa

We did not trouble fellow competitors for very long but has anyone got any clips of Pippa off the start and at 2 Buoys? Dredgy got us a cracking start and we were third around 2 Buoys after Vee and Tony and with Markus breathing down our neck. All felt very good. And of course the cushe drive then went on the port box 10 mins later. Both doughnuts were renewed as a precaution last year but clearly they were still not grunty enough. Back to the crash boxes.

Here you go mate!

Just out of interest how big is the bow tank?

Can't remember exactly (its part of the boat, so not simple to calculate) but about 35 imp galls I think. so circa 160kg.

Thanks fo taking the trouble to get those fantastic pics. If it wasn't for the dedication of people like you we wouldn't be able to see these great boats racing in those types of conditons. Love the shots of Cinzano right out, Swipewipes and also Smoking Aces and as for that gorgeous Apache 41, well all I can say is that Tony Toll is completely bonkers as he must have spent more time in the air than in the water - will have to have a couple of those!!

Here you go Mike, coutesy of my dear brother, this is me learning to fly aged 15, not much has changed, still love boats, but now the hair colour matches that old jumper I had!

Myself and Sam would like to send our condolences to Mike Lovell's Family and Friends.
