Good afternoon Jon,

A provisional race programme for the forthcoming Cowes Powerboat Festival has now been announced, and we are obviously eager to communicate this to users of Boatmad.com.

Could you let us know how it will be possible to relay the contents of this email to your users. Obviously, we are not going to sign-up for a username and be seen to 'spam' your forum... unless of course, this is what you advise!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

It's Cowes, It's Powerboats, And It's Bigger Than Ever!

Powerboat P1 Press Office, UK, 19th July 2005: The new Cowes Powerboat Festival race announcement brings a new era in UK powerboat racing. In keeping with tradition the Festival takes place over the August bank holiday weekend and will provide spectacular racing action with three National Championships, two invitational opens and a round of the UIM Powerboat P1 World Championship.

The centrepiece of the Festival is the Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel Powerboat P1 British Grand Prix – with an international line up of teams, pilots and racing boats, this World Championship event is guaranteed to be one of the high points of the British boating and motorsport year and will be televised across 50 countries worldwide.

The ‘Basic Race’ has been reinstated by the organisers of the festival, KBL Powerboat Management Ltd’, and renamed the Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel Isle of Wight Powerboat Challenge. The two event spectacle is open to anyone with a suitable craft and is made up of a periodic log for cruise vessels and a racing class event. Special prizes will be on offer for the winning teams of what is expected to become one of the year’s most widely anticipated boating extravaganzas.

Lucy Goaman, Gillette UK, Business Manager - Men's Skincare:
"The new Cowes Powerboat Festival, with its world and national championship races, draws from a long tradition in Cowes and Gillette MACH3 NITRO Gel is pleased to support this great event. The public participation aspect of the Isle of Wight Powerboat Challenge gives the Festival an added feature that will allow everyone to enjoy a great day out on the water."

Nathan Knight, CEO, KBL Powerboat Management Ltd:
"Powerboat racing in Cowes has 45 years of tradition and over those years it has attracted a "who’s who" of the boating world. The interest in the Festival from the boating community and the support of the UK national racing classes has been tremendous and it promises to be a spectacular show. If you like boats, Cowes is the only place to be on the August bank holiday weekend!"

WHEEEEEE HAAAAA

It appears that *any* V24 boat can race in the three races for V24's!!!!

This means that ( as I understand ) boats like Pascoe, Weakes etc can enter on a day licence, and race without having to buy a National Licence!!

This is really great!

It's going to be a bit boring going round and round - after the first lap on Friday I might as well drop Graham off so he can have an early beer!

The courses are usually a bit more of a challenge than that!

metcheck says, thursday shite, fri, sat, sun, dry,, 5-6mph wind. But it's a tad early to count on weather forecasts

With 5mph winds forecast, I expect even our hardboats will manage ok, thanks anyway.

Besides, with it being a short weekend, we don't want to waste too much time travelling :D

Crack of dawn Thursday then. :D
