Look up chasing summer time, same guy!

I've got one of these, Mines been modified a bit now though.
I was loving it until the compass failed this weekend and it buried it's self in the top of a tree

Here's mine

Interested in the mods you've made and if you have discovered what caused the compass to fail?

The GoPro is now slung from a Camera Gimbal, there are plenty on the maket for the DJI Phantom this is just one from the lower end of the price bracket.
Here it is before I added the extended landing gear.

I had to fit longer landing gear because the Gimbal would foul when going through its setup procedure with the standard legs.

Here's a flight in strong wind, I've fitted the prop guards to show how hard the gimbal is working to keep the camera steady.

I have also fitted Fat Shark FPV (first person view) transmitter and goggles so that I get a birds eye view from the copter, hopefully this will help me when framing shots.
Hope to use it this summer out on the boat

As for what caused the Compass to fail? I have too many idea's but no hard facts???
All I know is it flew fine for 3 batteries then on the 4th it went bad on me!
got the whole thing on Video though.

Here's a few of stills taken from video footage shot.

I think Kev go the same gimbal - very impressive! Might have to invest in one of these soon - have you seen the lunch box quads for over water use? Haven't seen a Phantom converted to one but it would waterproof everything except the motors?

Where did you buy yours from Andy?

John they can be made waterproof, the problem is they sink like a stone!
And before you say "add a water buoy keyring to it" mine now weighs in at just over the kilo with the mods.

You need to have a look here

Very impressive, but they all have fixed camera's.
The video footage from a fixed camera is all over the place!

I'l just stick with trying to keep the thing airborne.:lol:lol:

you could always put a gimbal on the outside - at least it would keep everything else dry.

And then there's these!

And This

Oups!

nothing related with powerboating but the story is interesting, may be laws are not the same in other countries :
Last Feb 14. This is a first in France: a high school student of 18 years is prosecuted for having filmed Nancy with a drone. Justice the continues for endangering the life of another. Its clip post on the internet had been seen several tens of thousands of times by internet users.
here is the movie:
the original movie is here:

The CAA have many rules, but most of them relate to craft over 7kg.
There's only one real rule.......Don't be a tw@t!

Which basically means
(1) don't fly over crowds of people, or in built up area's
(2) Don't fly out of line of sight
(3) if you are flying FPV with goggles you need a spotter
(4) don't fly into restricted air space

Just be sensible and have fun, don't be a nuisance!
