Would removing the exhaust tuner on my 2.5 make any difference to it's performance?

it would fkk up the back pressure big time!

Reckon it would hurt the torque, and add little, if anything, top end. IMHO. :D

Mike do you have a standard mid section or an offshore mid section.
If you have a standard mid section then you can remove the exhaust can that sits around the tuner.

As for messing up the back pressure by removing the tuner, This will not affect anything your exhaust could fall off and rattle around inside the mid section housing and you would not notice any difference.

Tuners are not worth the money, a mod worth doing is matching the head exhaust outlets to the mid section.

As for trying any other tuners don't waste your money.
A long tuner is better for top end power and a short tuner is good for low down grunt. (might be the other way around but I thik I am right)

Relieving the exhaust leg is a worth while excercise tho.

Thanks, but what do you mean by 'relieving the exhaust leg' ?

Clive Jones has the powerhead at the moment and is doing some work on the heads, the rods have already been balanced and It's got Boyson reeds . So I thought that whilst it was apart I might as well see what else could be done to get a bit more performance .

Cheers

place a base gasket on the leg. look at the difference between the size of exhaust ports in the leg and in the base gasket. open the leg up to the size of base gasket

Ain't the base gaskets made to fit all types of V6 (135 thru 2.5)?
If the gasket shows as much metal on the mid section ports as it does on the power head, there's nothing to be gained.
Or have I missed something?

Providing the metal is in matching places on both faces, I would guess.

That's the way I see it too, not much use following the contour of the gasket then.
