Have any of you heard about the Gumball 3000 Boat Rally 2 of september?

It is supposed to depart from London ending up in Deauville, France.

I am *still* undecided. I know I can go faster in the V24, and I will not get wet if it rains or it gets rough.

But with the Bladerunner I can take a 'press' person with.

I have sent in the entry form with a TBA on the boat. I have also emailed then to say I have a dilema..



It should be fun?

I still need my boatmad stickers from the boss......

cool! I am 100% doing it next year! I would of done it this year but I dont have the kind of money to piss up the wall so I am going to have to save hard over the year to make it next year but I know its gonna be a fantastic experience when I finally make it to next years event!
Hopefully I might be able to get my company to drop me a few sponsor pennies my way!
I have been thinking of doing it for charity and that would make it easier to get sponsors for the event.

Dunno what rescue cover they will supply if you are in a canopy boat, just a thought mate. I'd run with the blade
Had many a lonley day on this run in the old London-Calais-London days.

Ray Bulman was telling me a few stories about the London -Calais - London rally. Sounded like a lot of fun when people had to rely on compasses etc to navigate there way across the sea as opposed to GPS. That said, I would not like to break down in the channel without a safety boat around. This rally will have a couple of safety boats but I think that in cases of emergency, boats should help each other where they can.

Hmmmmn - actually a very good point. I had not thought about that...

So that probably settles it. I will go in the blade.

Schedule

Thursday 1 September:
7.00pm – 9.00pm: We invite you to enjoy a Champagne reception with canapés on board the deck of HMS Belfast overlooking the majesty of Tower Bridge, London. Here you will register, meet other entrants and be briefed about your adventure.

8.00pm: Vortex-Racing team will launch their zapcat racing team, providing guests with a mouth-watering display that we will watch from the security of HMS Belfast!

9.00pm: VIP Party at Movida night club, (7-8 Argyll Street), where we will have an exclusive area reserved at this glamorous London venue.

Friday 2 September:
12pm: Boats make a rolling start under Tower Bridge and head towards Boulogne, an 85 mile run. Optional refueling will be in Ramsgate for this leg of the journey. Enjoy the excitement of the helicopter filming your adventure from above.

7.30pm: Drinks and dinner party at Chateau de Matelote, Boulogne.

Saturday 3 September:
9.30am: Boats set off for the final 102 mile leg of the journey to Deauville. Optional refueling will be in the port of Dieppe.

8.00pm: Drinks and canapé dinner at the Hotel du Golfe in Deauville followed by the awards ceremony.

11.00pm: After party at Club Les Planches, Deauville.

Sunday 4 September:
12pm: Informal racing off the bay of Deauville.

4pm: Convoy’s home, (be sure to hook up with a budy boat for your safe passage back to blighty)!
