You mean re-partition,and yes you will loose all data unless you use some software which i used a while back which lets you change the drive partitions without deleteing the files but i cant remember what it was called.
If you have ms dos based windows (win 98/not xp) then you go into the command prompt and type, fdisk
this will bring you to a partitions screen and let you alter the hard drives

Are you running a Primary Partition with an extended/second partition or are you running a compressed drive?

after doing a search on google the names Norton PartitionMagic and drive space

My hard drives full and its partioned equally in 2 but i cant save to the other drive. i dont fancy losing all my data

buy a bigger HDD. They are cheap enough!

ive got a sony laptop though. seems a shame when ive got all that free space round the corner

you run out of space on your laptop? if so get an external hdd or buy a cheap desktop and link them wirelessly and use the space on the desktop

Taz, buy a portable USB HDD - say 20-40-60gb, and move all your data onto it then format your "old" HDD, and install a op sys and reload the data from the portable USB HDD onto it.
Then you can use the portable as a back up in the future.....

A Portable HDD will only set you back say £90-110.

320 gig firewire 400/800, USB 1&2 Lacie External HD= £183inc vat
