Hi,
I picked up men P21 yesterday - and is very please with what i have gotten my hands on..!! She looks brand new and so does the engine!!!

However one thing buggers me - the throttle control!!
Appereantly the "Quicksilver controlconsol" or whatever it's called only engages forward/neutral/backwards - but doesn't do anything for the throttle. The trottle is controled solely by the "hot foot" - Is this "normal" or can I also control the gas/throttle weith the "console thingy"!?!
So do I need to modify something - or is it simply not possible to have two place fropm where you can control the gas/throttle?!?

any help much appreciated..

normal

You could buy an 'IN-CONTROL' foot throttle system. Although they are quite pricey, they do a 'dual throttle' kit for exactly what you are asking.

Have a look at this thread:

and this one:

On their web site, go to: 'Products' > 'parts and accessories', in there is the hand throttle adaptor kit.

Be aware tho' the IN-CONTROL foot throttle is about 500 Euros

Does it mean that I need an IN-Control Foot Throttle as well?? or can I use the kit with my Hot- Foot...?

Yes, you'll need the IN-CONTROL throttle, AND the hand throttle kit.

You'd have to design and build your own mechanism to enable the dual Hand/Foot throttle setup using the 'Hot Foot' throttle.

Hmmm - not much of a mecanic!!!
since the boat is "only" for skiing and fun - the foot throttle is no good IMO.. Might consider the IN-CONTROL solution then...

why is foot throttle no good for skiing and fun? Lars, im not taking the piss, its a genuine question, i have never used a boat fitted with a foot throttle, but am fitting one to my boat, so what are the pro's and cons?

I haven't actually tried it yet, however I believe that maintaining say 3000rpms is difficult because it's hard to keep you foot steady bounching around.!
when i waant to go skiing I want to maintain a steady speed, and this must be hard to do with the thottle being controled by your foot!?!
WEhen you use a normal "lever" hand throllte you don't need to have you hand on the lever all the time and you are able to stay on whatever rpm level you want.. This is impossible, imo, with the "hot-foot".. it's either go or no go

Ok i see, has nobody done an add on for a hot foot?

surely a simple adjustable ""stop" would do the trick for skiing?

its just the same as the throttle in your car, when you go over a bump in the road you dont press the accelerator.
you could always remove the throttle cable from the hot foot and refit it in the hand control box.

well thats what i thought........ surely if your slamming around that much you wouldnt have a skier in tow anyway?

Not out to start an pissing contest on the topic

But a foot throttle is in my opinion a far more responsive thing than a hand throttle i find it far more natural to manage than a hand throttle & it's very easy to master, much better & faster for a power off power on situation, I think I would be happy to state that pretty much if not all of the class 3 boats & OCR use foot throttles that have a seating position.
Now If performance is not the issue then transfer over to a hand control, but I think once you master it you will find you prefer it.

I dont think you need to set up both with the extra design work & cost involved

Just to add - we have fitted the incontrol setup on both the race and leisure boats - the leisure boat has a link to the Gaffrig hand throttle as well and it works like a dream!

Cookee - you are all over my posts :)
Can you send me some pictures of this setup ?!

They are on Rib.net already - have a look for the "leisure BananaShark on the water" thread :)

looks very nice indeed...
Especially with the Gaffrig controls - however i will need a side mounted control - not a top-mounted on, so i can't have the Gaffrigs..

They do a moulding for side mounting them although there are lots of nice options available in the US if you want some "Bling"
