If you wanted a 25 footer (hardboat) sports style, by the time you had tooling ready to start production, I reckon £100K, this is assuming you want it to be good quality in all aspects, design, straightness and 'true to design' accuracy, finish etc.

care to add anything TD?

I'd stab at between 5 and 10 grand to the designer, depending on his name / past record.

Yeh TD..............................making a sportsboat say 28-30ft can be very time consuming and uneconomical...........but rather rewarding.........wouldnt "one" say?

I'm still waiting for SB to get on with the drawings for my P33/35  :D

:D :D :D :D dunno, we'll see. He aint done it yet

that a lot of dosh init!! well i think we all lost that bet!!

How much did you estimate?

Strange - working on a design proposal at the moment for a 8M open boat - non RIB. Based around a single diesel installation.

Tooling costs coming out way below the 100K mark.

we reckoned for a open boat eg a rib etc about £50k. based on the fact that my mate (not me so dont shoot the messenger) has been quoted £15k to make a splash mould of his hull and deck

£15K..? Nah, mate you wonna get it done in SA.. it only costs Rand 15K and it'll be better.... and it'll be faster.... and it'll be lighter.... and it'll..............

just the mould not the actual er mould. if that makes sense

You mean 'moulding' as apposed to 'mould', product as apposed to tooling
