Went on the Deauville Rally.

It was great.

I took over a reporter & photographer and an ex European Racing Champion as passengers. Ms Tricky navigated quite well, and we were first to get to Deauville.

Some great photographs on the way, including Rebecka Looose on the bladerunner *with* a boatmad sticker in view..

Cool! I would really have like to have gone this year! Would you go again?
I have already started my money pot for it already! :)

I will most prolly do it again next year!

It was a huge amount of fun.

Just about zero sleep. Loads of tiredness. A great route. Brilliant towns. Need to spend more time in each one - but Deauville is really nice place, and all the harbours etc we went to were helpful and happpy to see us.

For those who know, I met Connie Nielsen.

For those who care - some USA ambasador was there as well.

Good one, glad to hear you enjoyed it.
If Ms Tricky navigated well, how did Mr Tricky drive?

.....like he usually does!:duell:

But lucky there are few corners to take...

We did hit one wave incorrectly, and 'lost' the spray rails, about 5 years off our life expectancy and the journalist will never father children, but it made a BIIIIIG splash and was well impressive. We also had about 3 seconds air time - in front of just about the entire rally!

Who was first in Deauville?

In order.....

Ms Tricky, me, sarah

Sarah races in the USA nowdays (mostly) - She won the Europeans a few years ago. Quite a lot of fun.

( she did not offer to drive - not even once! )

Don't get a too big a head or you'll need a crane to lift it.
Oops, too late.
:bolt:

CAREFULL!!!

Ms Tricky and Sarah are only two months apart in age!

*AND* both are seven years younger than me:bang:

Had some fun in the Thames. The jurno and Photo guy and a friend of Sarah's were sitting on the foredeck of the blade as we were starting off, doing the Rich bastard pose. One of the other boats went past, a 65 footer Manhatten look alike, and made a hole in the water. I turned in to kick up some spray and wet them in front, but clipped off about 1 foot of thewave, which ran down the deck, wetting everyone completely.

Well - I was laughing a lot.

:hatchet: They were not really amused....:drain:

I was there too! 5.5m Phantom rhib, (orange/yellow).
I was driving & CJ was the throttle man!!!
Shame there was only yourself, about 4 rhib's & 2 zapcats.
What was the big hold-up at Greenwich? To early for lunch!

Holdup was Rebecccca Loooose wanted to get photographed on a boat.....

PW's were banned from the Thames. So they were not there! But I 'escorted' the two Zapcats and the SeaDoo's accross the shipping channels. Those guys - totally mad. The Seadoo guys were dressed in dinner jackets and looked really cool.... The Zapcats were getting air from just about anything - they were totally soaked.. ( but they only used 180 litres or something like that the entire trip. )

The biggest was a 65 something foot boat, then the Blade, then about 7 ribs. Then the really silly craft.

In total there were 16 boats?. Some were slow, but one rib was the guys trying to set endurance records, and their rib can do 65knots - but can do it for several days! Really cool design.

Marc;
OK, I forgot about the 65 footer (+ the smaller one).
Were you waiting at Greenwich for some late starters then?
We went to GYC when we left your lot, we were there for some time, didn't see you boy's go past.

Your speed estimate or thiers?

By the way I'd like to see that boat sounds like an awesome machine! :D

Cookie,

you will *love* their new one. It is a wave 'puncher' design, 35 foot long. And the killer! Dry weight 250kg!

It will run off a helicopter jet ranger engine - 350 something HP with a weight of 62 Kg.

So the whole thing together would be in the region of 312kg.

Think I know the boat you mean, there's a website on it but I can't remember where

35' + 250 Kilos!! ...polystyrene?

That's the thing that was at Ribex in 2004 - took the seats out because he thought someone was out to steal his designs!

As far as I know that was the last anyone heard of them or it.

It looked a lot less than 35' long, so maybe they've gone up a size now - I think it was so light because it was only about 2'6" wide!

Tricky - was this boat actually there or just the people talking about it?
