This has got to be the main reason people are put off.

Surely the money you have to pay the RYA does not equal the cost of insurance and paper work, plus, measurers time (is that voluntary though?)

What else do they supply for the fee's they collect?

Certainly not any meaningfull promotion

and I thought the race organisers, officials, saftey boats did it gratuit?

educate me if I am missing something...

I was told recently by a reliable source, that £270 of the licence cost for 2 litre international, was consumed by the various insurance costs to the RYA, the licence fee is 400 odd quid I believe, that, if correct is a hell of a lot of wonga, and clearly a big part of the problem.

Having said that, 270 quid, for insurance for such a dangerous sport doesn't seem so bad, assuming it would actualy pay out in the event of an unfortunate accident such as the OCR one involving Steve Masterman, and it's subsequent legal action.

If these breakdowns of licence costs were more transparant, and the cover was explained, (officially of course, with proof) maybe people wouldn't feel quite so 'ripped off'.

Ok it's apples & oranges but my ACU Racing licence costs £25.00 & I can go blasting into a paddock or spector area full chat & on fire, with just as much legal mumbo & counter claim with a lot less cost

Thought it was about boosting the seasons fleet rather than just the odd basic.
Read the link that rib rule is open to so much abuse, or is it more defined.
There are a few 21's floating about with 2.5's it's a shame that something couldn't have included them.
(Hands up those with 2.5's on ths forum)

It is - 3C, Ribs & Production. I guess the 'hope' would be that people who have a go in production graduate to national at some point - but ultimately it's 1 big race with 3 classes in - so a production/basic boat could open a large can of 'whoop arse' & beat everyone

Damm that rules out a lightweight Argo 21 with a collection of Durex inflated & stuck to the rub rail........grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm all for any promo I can recall 35 + starters in the class would love to see it again. But with such costs nowadays I think the hope of anybody "Graduating is a small percentage" A compaditive raceboat & ohh lets take out the wife & kids boat dont mix.

Edit just re read the F200 & I can stick me durex on a Argo 21 acording to the guide notes, now how many £1.00 coins do I need ????
Like the If your not a Racing UKOBA member ya points dont count. So you could have a situarion where a non Ukoba member wins every Race but Dont even rank in any standing ( nothing changes jobs for the boys..) Fink I'll stay out of the Muster Area
