Injector cleaning

Ive changed my plugs and havent cured the miss compression all good all i can think is injectors ecu or leads.

How do you know if the injectors are playing up?

They look easy enougth to remove

Anyone know rougthly what it costs?

dude to find your fault you need to find someone with a DDU Roofer has one for sale or any good marine engineer should have one. you could try getting your injectors cleaned first as they should be done regulary same as getting car ones done take em to a bosch centre but i think it costs around £100 a set using ultrasonics.

remember if it is an injector fault no fuel also means no oil to that cylinder and bye bye engine so go careful dude

taz i had my injectors cleaned at a bosch centre for £105, take burty's advice and get it seen to before it goes bang,I speak from experience, my problems started with a missfire.
If you use a ddt box you can test fire your injectors to make sure they work.

You can test your injectors by removing the them along with the whole fuel rail and then cranking the motor with the kill switch cord out. You should be able to see if one isnt working or is weak.

Have you checked the fuel pressure?

In one of your other posts you said you were running BUHW spark plugs and now your running BUHW-2's. Did it run okay on the BUHW's becuase they are only really suitable for carb and some analogue EFI motors. As far as I know some analogue (ones with TPI's internal to the ECU) and all digital EFI motors should use BUZHW's. The Z means they have a suppression resistor built in. If you don't have the resistor the resulting the interference will cause the ECU to play up!!!

Hi people i was running buhw plugs with no prob and to tell the truth all my problems started when a dinghy hit my engine gave it a good wack!
Now i have bought a new set of plugs which were in the book bu8h ngk stated to be for the 2.5l efi 260.

Already taken pinjectors out going to get them cleaned monday i did notice they were diff colours sum green sum blue but oh well it was ok before.

Do those monitors tell u whats wrong as in a pectel monitor on a cossie which tells you about sensor and injector faults.

Down this way there are no good mechanics with big mercs and i wouldnt trust any either so all i can think is either hutchy or ocean racing where silversufer takes his otherwise its down to my mechanic skills.

Did i hear that reeds can be a major fault on these engines?

Have you checked your coils I think they can crack!!!

it was pretty hard hit the cowling non ecu side i did think about the coils but fought that if it was craked damaged it would pack up completly and not tempermental

Dunno to be honest!!! If its the core that's cracked it may just cause a weak spark.

As for reeds, yes they can go bad, chips and/or cracks can cause them to not seal properly!!! Got to be worth a look.

If it hit the cowling you could look for witness marks on the inside where it may have hit something on the engine. Then look for corrisponding damage on the engine in this area!!!

checked coils and engine no visual marks or cracks to be seen. Maybe leads i think you can check them with a ohm meter cant you?

I bet new reeds will cost a fair few quid!

You can check the leads have good continuity with an ohm meter but you cant check that the insulation isn't breaking down. You could allways run the motor up on the hose when its dark and look for any arcing

When does it miss? Underload? Does it miss every revolution or just every few seconds or once in while?

once in a while it will be fine then it missis and has no power it seems to be better when ideling though. It just seems to do it once in a while and sum times clears for a bit you think its ok then bosh it does it again.

Hmmmm. Stator maybe, not sure what happens when they go bad.

I would post the symptoms on scream and fly and see what they say.
