latest state of the art marine diesel

Perhaps they were state of the art when Bayliner used them from the mid 80s to mid 90s.

Any idea what it is based on, What CC?

It looks like an old straight six Perkins/Ford mermaid.

Inline Fuel pump..Wow!

"State of the art" was defo the wrong word.

I do not see how it can have a good power to weight ratio compared to say the Mercruiser 2.8 D Tronic 220hp.

Maybe if it was £2-3K Less it may be an option for some?

I do admire the british spirit though..Build it yourself with old plumbing fittings and checker plate

If it was advertised as Brick **** house Marinised agricultural engine it would probably sell!!

Hino truck/bus motor,
and i thought the new volvo's were bitty engines
give me a KAD 43 anyday

anyone building a new boat or looking a top of the range engine look no further than this baby :wank: http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/WEM129

I unfortunatly had dealings with this guy about 10 years ago he deals mainly in crap that has usually had a very runny coat of paint and its not even reconditioning paint. The engines I had from him were worse than the ones they replaced, at least the old ones ran just. Costly experience!.

Ditto that comment. A couple of years back I priced to rebuild a Mercruiser 7.4 for a customer, who moaned at how expensive I was and that he could get the job done in the UK by 'a high performance marine workshop' who would race tune the motor and provid a dyno printout etc etc.......

When this 'Hi-Perf' motor turned up it was a long block, sitting in a home made crate, on its sump with a box load of bits stuffed in alongside it!! Ended up costing the guy way more than I had originally estimated in the end.

My advise with this crowd is to AVOID LIKE THE PROVERBIAL PLAGUE!!!!!!:wank:

Moose.
