How good are these engines,
Are they reliable,
Any tunning that can be had for extra power as 7.3 ltr's and 270 BHP looks like a lot more power could be tweaked out of them.
What are your views on these engines.

These engines never really caught on mainly because they were overweight, over complicated, noisey, thirsty, low on power for their capacity, that was the good bits the really bad bit is they are unreliable, the best thing that happened to them was Mercruiser stopped making them.

You are far better off in all ways with a Yanmar 315 or even the 250 on bravo.

I’ll second that. Avoid!!!

The 270 is the even worse indirect version isn't it Bill? the 300 was the newer direct jobbie.

You still wince over the 'Blue Dart'?

And if those testimonies haven't put you off completely I'll put you in contact with a mate of mine who'd gladly sell his pair.

when I say gladly I mean he'd be totally delirious:hugegrin:

That was one expensive project that never worked out due to the engine, The boat however was great.

Many thanks to all that took the time to answer, and I have a lot of respect and trust in the your opinion's .

So reading between the lines you think they are worth a look

Many thanks for you time and I will give them a big miss and stick with the Yanmar.

Hallo...
Ich sehe die Beträge hier sind schon älter, dennoch habe ich Hoffnung, hier im Forum jemanden zu finden, der den Motor kennt und mir helfen kann.

Hello...

I see the posts here are quite old, but I'm still hoping to find someone in the forum who knows this engine and can help me.
