Non-Stop (almost) Round Ireland in a RIB

One of the main objectives of this trip was to raise awareness and funds for a certain charity. Please have another look at Alan’s thread if you get the chance.

Having met quite a lot of you I know there are some real gents and ladies (I won’t ruin your image by mentioning names. ) out there who are and have been genuinely supportive of the circumnavigation of Ireland by a couple of foreign!!!! women!!!! .Sincere thanks.

Most families know someone who may have colon disease or problems of one sort or another . There have been some amazing private messages (and my pms ARE private ) which have included people’s disclosures about their own or their family’s suffering/success stories. This discussion and awareness-raising is one of the Charity’s great aims. Other people are sending and have sent in cheques to support the Charity. Fiona told me last night she is ready to have a meeting with Jimmy (the Charity’s Secretary in Northern Ireland ) to discuss her future involvement. I phoned Jimmy on Monday and one of his suggestions was that all funding to come out of this trip should go into a special part of the charity e.g. supporting children or young adults…or perhaps a research project.

Bearing in mind that things are snowballing, I’ve asked JF’s permission to post this information.
If you would like to contribute, there are a few ways of doing so. All are very meaningful…

1) Reading up on the UK website www.the-ia.org.uk
2) Your messages of encouragement on the RIBnet thread So many of you have been so kind and supportive so far and Fiona has been overwhelmed by this especially. The Charity is also studying these.
3) Sending a few bob directly to the main UK site (there is an online facility at www.the-ia.org.uk )
4) Sending a cheque directly to Fiona’s chosen branch. Jimmy is very happy to be contacted directly as follows :

This is not to keep tabs on individuals but to tally an amount which can be used eventually as a one-off presentation from the Round Ireland team (Alan, Fiona, Missus) .
