The original crew were: Pete Armstrong and Steve Baker= drivers (alternately, obviously) Jan Armstrong = Navigator, and Neil Holmes= Engineer land based, meeting up at each stop, doing his thing with the spanners, sadly, Jan did some damage to her back whilst crossing the Bristol Channel in very large swells (which would also spell the demise of the 40 odd foot Cougar cat 'Carlsberg', which sank somewhere south of Ireland.
After Jan's injury, Neil made up the three crew, and took a share in driving I think too, Maybe he'll drop in and clear up some finer details some time.

Carlsberg

Erm.....Mr Fuller, I've started to noitce that you are somewhat anti-cougars!

who won that race overall anyway?

No, not anti Cougar at all, In fact I love em, especially the old US1 range.

The winner of ther 84' round Britain, was the same guy who'll win Miami-New York this Year....Fabio Buzzi!... In 84' it was with 'White Iveco'

With respect to Cougars, you must remember this thread:

It says "Engines by Jon Fuller"

It was an ex Class 1 Cougar US1 46' diesel run by Dick Strutton back in 86'
I re-engined it in 90' when it was converted for pleasure use (triple Mercruiser HP465's on Mk 4 Speedmasters), and looked after it for 3 years or so, before it was sold in around 93' to a guy in LA. (not LittleAmpton,... Los Angeles)
These pics were posted on OSO last year, taken in LA quite recently, It has all new graphics etc. but I was amazed to see it still has the sticker on the transom that I put there in 91' after re building the motors (he poped one, so we freshened them all up whilst we were at it)

you see jon...worldwide reputation! I assume then, that marine engines are your mainstay of work?

rest assured, if they'd have been stickers by Capt Chaos, they wouldn't have lasted 14 years (or days for that matter!)

LOL

CK

I can only imagine the poor yank assumed jon fuller was some famous engine builder, instead of a dustman from scunthorpe! (no prejudice towards dustman, or Scunthorpe intended) or he would have removed the stickers long ago when he re-graphic'd the boat!:bang:

You said it Jon..... Anyway some of those northern dustman are reputed to be rather handy with a set of spanners.

some Yanks are more gullable than me!
