Got a navman chartplotter in the boat but does any body know if you can get the normal road charts for them so you can use it in the car?

Have a word with Foolish, he may be able to help............

as far as i know you can't :(

navmans use C-MAP cartridges and they don't cover roads

If i was a "Woman" i would have put my last post down to a "Blonde" moment ! :frown:

It's obvious you would have checked out that option before posting

The problems are :

1: finding a "reader/writer" for the "C-Map" cartridges ..... not easy ( but possible )

2: breaking the protection on them ... easier !

3: The C-map carts have very little memory, (32mb i believe)... and "street maps" are rather large , hence you would have a very small area coverage per cartridge.

4: you would need a lot of old ( but still expensive) carts to load with your "street maps"

5: for the price of a couple of C-map's you could have a dedicated car version

Why bother ?

I was speaking to a guy from Navman on the weekend and he was telling me that they have no plans to make the marine gps's land useful.

can be done ... just not cost effective :tea:

unless you have a load of old C-Maps :)
