Is t true you dont have a tide there?

There is a tide but not much of one compared to the UK.

Where I lived out on Long Island the tidal range was probably 7 - 9 feet.

There is a very nasty tidal race around Manhattan on the East River known as Hells Gate but the Poker Run begins in New York harbour and then runs up the Hudson River.
