As well as boats, I also like cars and car racing.
In this weeks Motorsport News there is a section on F1 drivers who do other 'dangerous sports' and have suffered because of it.

Examples Being:

Ayrton Senna: Had stiches to a head injury caused whilst water ski-ing

Alan Jones: Drove a race with a broken finger after a punch up

Didier Pironi & Gilles Villenueve used to race each other on the open road to see who would back off first (Pironi later killed in a powerboat accident)

You get the picture......................

And then it came to Camille Jenatzy (who I admit I have never heard of) who, whilst out as a member of a shooting party, decided, it would be a good idea to hide behind a bush and pretend to be a wild boar........

Pironi rolled over in front of me. Sea was very calm, and he came past us at 100 + The boat was just rocking from left to right when he hit a wake, it was all over - we stopped but fortunately there were safety boats on hand so we carried on, only to hear the dire outcome when returning to the RMYC.
I never want to see the like again, prize giving was cancelled and everyone retrieved their race boats and quietly left, we had earned enough points to secure my navigator the National Championship, but didn’t even talk about it on the way home.
